The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas announced today that a grant it received from the Arby’s Foundation, totaling $4,500 will be used to benefit their School Pantry Program.
The funds will help purchase nutritious food for children at risk of hunger. The mission of the Food Bank’s School Pantry Program is to meet the needs of hungry children by providing them with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food to take home on weekends and school holidays.
A teacher who works with the School Pantry Program said, “When our students don’t have to worry about food, it is easier for them to be kids…When they are required to worry about being hungry or worry about where their next meal is coming from, they don’t focus on school or being a kid.”
